Book Your Studio Session

May 20, 2026

May is always a very busy month for the Melbourne Sports Photography team. Winter sports are underway and we are busy shooting team photos for a host of Melbourne sports clubs, and also generating social media content for our clients to use throughout the season. This year has been particularly busy. It's also the first year the Melbourne Sports Photography studio space has been fully functional at this time of year.

So in additional to team photos and match day coverage, we have been working on a range of studio content and lighting options.

Tackling the English Channel

April 19, 2026

One of the great things about Melbourne Sports Photography's studio shoots is the interesting people we meet! Phil and Craig recently had the pleasure of meeting Anton for a studio shoot. Among other things, Anton is a long distance swimmer - and in August 2026 he will attempt to swim the English Channel! How very cool!

Craig describes the session as very fun and creative, with one of his favourite images showing 2 sides of Anton in one image - the corporate man and the swimmer.

During the session the Melbourne Sports Photography team learned a lot about the logistics of swimming the English Channel, noted for it's cold water and strong currents, and how you have to book in advance and hope the weather and tides are in your favour.

If you'd like to follow Anton's journey please see his Instagram account at instagram.com/anton_ilchenko

Thanks for a very enjoyable studio shoot Anton. We are following your adventure with great interest and look forward to it culminating in a successful swim across the English Channel. May the tides and weather be in your favour!

(For the followers of the Melbourne Sports Photography Instagram account, we will pop some pictures of Anton there with a link to his account.)

Rialto Run Up

March 24, 2026

For the second year in a row the Melbourne Sports Photography team were part of the Rialto Run Up event.

If you are not familiar with Rialto Run Up - it's a stair climb event where participants make their way up the internal stairway of Rialto Tower on Collins Street, Melbourne. You might be wondering how many floors that might be? Well, it is 54 floors! That's quite an ascent!

Also consider that there are two categories of entry - single climbers and multi climbers. Yes, you guessed it, multi climbers do the ascent multiple times with some doing it 12 times! 12 x 54 equals 648 floors of stairs they climbed in a 3 hour period. Incredible!

Melbourne Sports Photography's Craig and Phil enjoyed being part of the day and watching some amazing endurance athletes in action.

Congratulations to the organisers and participants who together raised more than $150,000 for "Giant Steps" - an organisation that provides support for people with autism.

What a unique event! Thanks for having Melbourne Sports Photography capturing the action.

2026 Team Photos Begin

February 16, 2026

And just like that we are underway with team photos for 2026.

Thank you to the Camberwell Dragons basketball club for having us to photograph 62 of your junior teams. We had a very busy and enjoyable day. We now have your images saved, backed up, and the Melbourne Sports Photography editing team are underway with the post production process. (That's mainly our team member Kia, who we thank for taking on this big editing task!)

As we worked our way through 10 teams per hour, there weren't many moments when there was only one team on the court. This photo looks like the calm amidst the storm!

Thank you to Belinda and Mandy for all the work at the club's end to ensure the process went smoothly. Thank you players, coaches and parents - we had nearly everyone arrive in clean playing uniforms ready for their shoot time.

While the shoot process is over for another year, we will be busy with the editing, printing, and packing process over the next few weeks.

Finally, a shout out to Lily who made her Melbourne Sports Photography debut shooting portraits on one of our biggest shoots of the year. It is good to have you on the team! Welcome!
